You know those MasterClass online series where you can learn how to do something from a celebrity who’s really, really good at that something? Like, Bobbi Brown will teach you how to do your makeup, Christina Aguilera will teach you how to sing, or Sydney Sweeney will teach you how to land eleventy-million brand ambassadorships (OK, I made that last one up). Jennifer Lopez could easily teach a number of topics; dancing and acting come to mind first, but what I’d really like to learn from her is how she makes the most casual did-it-while-stopped-at-a-red-light-with-no-mirror updo look so freakin’ fabulous.
J. Lo was spotted in Los Angeles this weekend looking simultaneously low-key yet super-polished—the way I dream of looking to run errands even though I throw on bathroom-floor jeans with the t-shirt I slept in. But what really separates my out-and-about look from Lopez’s is how effortlessly cool her hair looks.
Her updo has the finished, voluminous look of something you might expect to see for a formal red-carpet event, but the intentional messiness of an IDGAF vibe. It’s unclear what exactly is holding up her hair, and to be honest, a lot of her hair isn’t even up—virtually everything from her ears forward is a giant tendril. From the side, you can see that it’s loosely twisted, with the ends poking out in a small, ponytail-esque arch.
